12 Years Later: Revisiting my Performance of Per-Olov Kindgren's Study in E-minor - A Tribute to the Legacy of a Modern Classical Guitar Icon

Per-Olov Kindgren is a Swedish classical guitarist who has made a significant impact on the guitar community with his virtuosic playing, original compositions, and popular guitar arrangements of famous pieces. His music has inspired countless aspiring guitarists to take up the instrument and explore the beauty of classical music.

Twelve years ago, I recorded a video of myself playing Per-Olov Kindgren's Study in E-minor, based on a study by Francisco Tárrega. Looking back on that video now, I am struck by how much time has passed and how much I have grown as a musician since then. But I am also reminded of how timeless Kindgren's music is and how it still resonates with me today.

Kindgren's music continues to be relevant in music education today because of its accessibility, simplicity, and beauty. His compositions and arrangements are often used by teachers to introduce students to the world of classical music and to inspire them to become better guitarists. Moreover, Kindgren's music is also popular among guitar enthusiasts on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, where they share their renditions of his music and pay tribute to his legacy.

As I look back on my performance of Kindgren's Study in E-minor, I am filled with nostalgia for the time when I first discovered his music and began my journey as a classical guitarist. But I am also grateful for the opportunity to revisit this video and to see how far I have come since then. It is a testament to the power of music and to the influence of great artists like Per-Olov Kindgren, whose music continues to inspire and captivate us even after all these years.
